Neither he nor her parents are concerned with the fact that he hid the reality that she would be a second wife. The unethical nature of the marriage doesn't seem to be of importance. Also the fact that he's old enough to be her father isn't important. With parents like these who throw their daughters literally to misogynistic wolves, who needs the enemy i.e. the male sexual predator on the street or in the garage in this case.
